Big Bad Wolf 2021: Here’s your ultimate guide to the online book sale

The Big Bad Wolf is going online this year, and here’s everything you need to know about the world’s biggest book sale event that is coming to the Philippines virtually in a few weeks.

What’s happening?

For everyone’s safety amid the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s Big Bad Wolf Book Sale will take place on its official website from June 30 until July 7, 2021.

The 8-day online event goes live on June 30 midnight and will be open 24/7 until July 7.

What’s going to be there?

Over 60,000 titles will be up for grabs with discounted prices up to 99% off recommended retail price, Big Bad Wolf Book Sale co-founder Jacqueline Ng announced in an online media conference on Thursday.

The selection includes books for every age and stage, ranging from bestselling novels, science fiction, romance, literature and graphic novels to business books, self-help, architecture books, cookbooks and much more.

In addition, the Book Sale also offers a wide selection of children’s books, including picture books, activity books, colouring books, and interactive books, to name a few.

Don’t worry about being overwhelmed: The website has organized the titles by category, and there’s also a search bar to direct you to the book of your dreams.

Discounts, prizes

Good news: Free shipping is guaranteed for those who make a minimum net purchase of PHP2,900 (applicable for deliveries within the Philippines only).

You can also choose from a selection of PHP10 books if you make a minimum purchase of PHP1,800 (selection book titles only).

When you think your cart is full, hit check out and make an online payment.

Payment options will include GCash, BDO, Dragonpay, eGHL, Grab Pay, and more.

How will I get my books?

“The shipping cost is computed by weight and by location,” Ng explained at the launch.

“So let’s say I’m someone living in Manila, and I bought let’s say five books around 3 kg, that will cause PHP145 only.

However, as we mentioned before, those who make a minimum net purchase of P2,900 will automatically get free shipping.

Unfortunately, “COD” or cash-on-delivery payment will not be available for this coming book sale for logistics reasons.

Ng also said purchases would be shipped all the way from Malaysia so it could take “between 18 to 24 business days” for orders to arrive.
