Garbage collector returns nearly PHP200,000 found in trash bag
A garbage collector in Pangasinan returned nearly PHP200,000 in cash which he found while he was at work early this month.
According to Joanna Ponsoy’s “24 Oras” report, Thursday, Reny Corpuz was working on June 5 when he found a PHP500 bill lying around and a trash bag that contained cash that was later revealed to amount to PHP191,000.
Instead of keeping it to himself, Corpuz immediately surrendered it to the local government of Urdaneta, Pangasinan.
Corpuz said he didn’t want to keep the money which he didn’t work hard for.
The money was then returned to the owners of an establishment who accidentally threw away the paper bag containing the cash when they went general cleaning.
With his deed, Corpuz’s family believes that blessings worth more than P191,000 will return to them. True to what they thought, Corpuz was promoted at work.
“From contractual to casual immediately, he was given that status today,” said Emily Lucero, head of the Urdaneta City General Services Office.
