Michael Martinez, Pinoy figure skaters take on BTS 'Butter' challenge

Michael Martinez led the Filipino figure skaters in showing off their moves as they took on the BTS "Butter" challenge.

In a post by Philippine Skating Union (PHSU) on Tuesday, Martinez and Sofia Guidote danced to the latest hit of the global icons. Also in the video are Edrian Celestino and Christopher Caluza.

Martinez, Celestino, and Caluza are preparing for a possible slot in the 2021 Nebelhorn Trophy which will be held in Germany in September. The said competition is a qualifier for the 2022 Beijing Olympics.

PSU said the video is their entry to the Philippine Olympic Committee's dance challenge, which is a part of a series of activities in celebration of Olympic Day on June 23.

Martinez is the first figure skater from a tropical country to compete in the Winter Olympics.

He made back-to-back Olympiad appearances in Sochi, Russia in 2014 and Pyeongchang, South Korea in 2018. He also participated in the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games.

Caluza and Celestino, meanwhile, represented the country in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games. Caluza bagged the silver medal while Celestino ranked fourth.
