Ysabel Ortega trained in Muay Thai, kickboxing for her role as Jamie Robinson in 'Voltes V: Legacy'

Ysabel Ortega is shaping up as one badass Jamie Robinson for GMA-7's "Voltes V: Legacy."

The young actress recently wowed netizens with her jaw-dropping moves in a stunt training video shared on Instagram.

In an interview with Aubrey Carampel on "24 Oras," Tuesday, Ysabel said she was able to do the stunts in less than one week thanks to her martial arts training.

"February 2020, I already started my training for Muay Thai and kickboxing. This is prior to our official training for 'Voltes V," she said in a mix of English and Filipino.

"I also trained for aerial hoops in case there are aerial stunts. The kickboxing really helped. I also underwent arnis training for two months—four times a week," she added.

According to Ysabel, she also used to do gymnastics when she was young, so that's how she got a flexible body.

Since this is Ysabel's first time to do an action series, she makes sure to give it everything she has.

"I know there are a lot who are waiting for 'Voltes V: Legacy' and I want to make everyone proud. I want to do justice to Jamie Robinson,” she said.

Aside from physical training, she has also been studying her scripts and watching the original series.

"My research when it comes to the background of 'Voltes V' doesn't stop. I think I've watched the whole series twice. I plan on watching it all over again from start to finish," she said.

Production is already underway for the upcoming adaptation, which also stars Miguel Tanfelix, Radson Flores, Matt Lozano, and Raphael Landicho.

A teaser for the highly anticipated series was released in January and it has since received over a million views on YouTube.

The live-action adaptation was licensed by Japan's Toei Company Ltd. through the Philippine-based Telesuccess Productions.
