Bong Joon Ho hopes 'Parasite' TV series will be 'something of great genius'

In case you missed it, hit film "Parasite" is getting adapted into a television series.

Director Bong Joon Ho, who has been working with writer-director Adam McKay for the project, said that he hopes it "will be something of great genius."

"'Parasite' is a film on wealthy and poor families, and that is a problem everywhere," he told IndieWire. "[The television series] will be something of great genius, I hope. I worked with Adam McKay and he’s figuring out the scenario. We’re going to do it in the United States."

Like the original film, the new series will be a black comedy.

McKay earlier said that it will be an original series.

"It’s in the same universe as the feature, but it’s an original story that lives in that same world," he told Collider.

"Parasite" (2019) follows a poor family who scheme to become employed by a wealthy family.

The film won four Academy Awards: best picture, best director, best international feature and best original screenplay.

It was the first non-English-language film to win Hollywood's biggest prize. —JCB, GMA News
