Dance challenge aims to encourage public to get COVID-19 vaccine

The “Ingat Angat, Bakuna Lahat” dance challenge has been launched to encourage the public to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

As reported by Dano Tingcungco on “24 Oras” Tuesday, the public could join by following the dance steps to be shown to them after their first or second dose.

Participants should post their videos on social media with the hashtag #IngatAngatBakunaLahat.

In Antipolo City, delivery rider Reynaldo Dinola, who joined the challenge, said he had a hard time following the steps.

“It’s okay since it’s for the vaccination, for the safety of customers and my family,” Reynaldo said in Filipino. “Because I’m always outside, I meet different people and go to various places.”

According to organizer Task Force T3, the dance challenge is part of their efforts to encourage more people to get vaccinated.

“When they see the dance challenge, they will see that people just like them are already vaccinated,” said Margot Torres, the project’s communications lead.

She said it would help encourage those who were not vaccinated yet to get their shots too.

Antipolo City Mayor Andrea Ynares, meanwhile, said vaccine hesitancy used to be one of the city’s problems, especially among senior citizens.

Today, however, more people have been signing up for the vaccination because they are informed about the possible side effects.

“At first, they were afraid of the possible side effects,” she said in English and Filipino.

“Maybe it’s love for family and concern for other people but it’s been how many months now and there have been no negative incidents,” she added.

Vaccinations in Antipolo City continued this week after it was delayed due to a supply problem.

The city has 36,000 doses of AstraZeneca, 7,000 of which are for those who are getting their second jabs. The supply is expected to last for two to three days. – Franchesca Viernes/RC, GMA News
