100-year-old tech-savvy lola attends college reunion on Zoom

A 100 year-old woman in the Philippines recently attended her college reunion amid the pandemic, all thanks to Zoom.

According to a report on "Unang Balita," Virginia Malay has been using gadgets and the internet to keep in touch with her loved ones long before COVID-19.

The tech-savvy centenarian said seeing her friends and former students makes her very happy, even if it's just over video call.

"Maganda na nakikita ko sila, kumakanta, sasayaw. Meron (pa) silang mga talk-talk," Lola Virginia told GMA.

Just last June, Virginia attended an online college reunion and had a good time with friends from the University of the Philippines (UP) where she studied nursing.

Fun fact: Virginia was initially supposed to study education, but World War II struck and UP only offered medical courses at the time, so she decided to take up nursing. — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
