Cavite residents affected by Typhoon Fabian get help from GMA Kapuso Foundation
Residents in a coastal area in Tanza, Cavite, who were affected by Typhoon Fabian received help from GMA Kapuso Foundation.
According to a “24 Oras” report Friday, residents of Barangay Amaya 5 in Tanza were hit by heavy rains and strong waves.
Barangay captain Roderick Abad said because of the typhoon, fishers had not been able to go to the sea for five days now.
One of those affected was Roger Pangilinan, a fisher for 30 years, who had not been able to take home his usual daily earning of PHP500.
“Walang mapagkukunan ng makakain. Nag-aantay lang kami sa bigay-bigay,” he said.
Apart from having no income, his boat and his 16-year-old house were also damaged by the typhoon.
Despite the inclement weather, GMA Kapuso Foundation in partnership with the Armed Forces of the Philippines Civil Relations Service spearheaded Operation Bayanihan in three barangays in Tanza.
Over 1,200 individuals received grocery packages, bottled water, ready to cook lugaw kits, face masks and face shields, as well as blankets, mats and mosquito nets, with the help of St. Theresa’s College Quezon City Alumnae Association.
For interested donors, they may send their help through GMA Kapuso Foundation’s website, bank accounts, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, PayMaya, Shopee, Zalora, and Megamart. – RC, GMA News
