BTS officially cancels 'Map of the Soul' world tour

Big Hit Music has officially cancelled BTS's "Map of the Soul" World Tour.

In a statement on WeVerse on Friday, the label said they have worked hard to resume preparations for the tour but were ultimately unable to do so.

"Due to changing circumstances beyond our control, it has become difficult to resume performances at the same scale and timeline as previously planned," they said.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, BTS's concerts in Seoul were previously canceled in February last year. Last March, the North American leg was postponed.

Concerts in Europe and Japan were postponed prior to the start of ticket sales.

"We regret that we must now inform you of the formal cancellation of the tour," the statement said, adding that fans who reserved tickets for the North American shows will receive emails regarding refunds.

However, Big Hit Music assured that they are working to "prepare a viable schedule and performance format that can meet your expectations."

BTS's "Map of the Soul" tour was supposed to take place in April 2020, and was slated to become the South Korean superstars' biggest concert to date.

It was meant to be the follow up to the group's 2019 "Love Yourself" tour, which drew in over two million people around the world. —JCB, GMA News
