Japan's Gundam Cafe to close 4 branches in January

Japan's iconic Gundam Cafe is closing down four branches early next year.

According to a report on Anime News Network, the cafe made the announcement through its official website on Monday.

The Gundam Square cafe in Osaka is scheduled to close its doors on January 10, followed by the Gundam Tokyo Cafe Brand Core in Akihabara, the cafe at DiverCity Tokyo Plaza in Odaiba, and the Fukuoka cafe on January 30.

"Although it will be a limited time, all the staff will provide the best possible hospitality so that everyone who uses it can bring back wonderful memories, so please enjoy it till the end," a translation of the website notice read.

Meanwhile, the Yokohama Satellite cafe will remain open until the Gundam Factory Yokohama closes on March 31.

Earlier this year, the Dotonbori branch in Osaka closed on March 31.

The Gundam Cafe opened its first branch in Akihabara back in 2010.
