Devastated food delivery worker whose bike got stolen gets help from fellow riders

A devastated food delivery worker whose bike got stolen has received help from his fellow riders.

According to a "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho" episode, Joshua was seen slumped on the road crying after he picked up a cake delivery only to find his bicycle stolen.

"'Di naman ako na nanloloko ng tao. 'Di ako nang-aagrabyado ng tao. Ba't sa 'kin pa? Ba't ako pa," he could be heard saying in the video.

["I don't cheat people. Why did this happen to me? Why me?"]

Joshua said he was a factory worker before he became a delivery rider. He tested positive for COVID-19 and after recovering, his neighbor asked him if he was interested in becoming a rider.

"Naisip kong lumipat sa pagde-deliver kasi mas maganda 'yung kita. Hindi siya masyadong hassle," he said.

["I switched to deliveries because it paid better. It's not too much of a hassle."]

He said his first ride was a second-hand bike he bought for P1,000. He later found another one, which he and his wife bought with money she borrowed.

The new bike was worth P18,400. Joshua said he was so happy with it and he even named it Black Panther.

Before it got stolen, Joshua said he had spent around P40,000 on the bike.

"Nagustuhan ko siya dahil dumami 'yung lugar na napuntahan ko. 'Yung mga magagandang lugar na mga imposibleng marating," he said.

["I liked it because I was able to go to many places, beautiful places that were otherwise impossible for me to reach."]

With the help of his bike, Joshua said he earned up to P700 a day, adding that it took him about 15 to 30 minutes in between delivery trips.

He also said he had experienced "fake bookings."

"Sayang 'yung effort mo, 'yung pagod mo," he said.

["Your efforts just go to waste, but you can't really do anything."]

On November 25, Joshua went through one of the most devastating days of his life when Black Panther was stolen.

He said he always padlocked his bike even if the area looked safe. That day, he just stepped away to take a cake order. When he returned to his bike, he was in disbelief.

"Iniisip ko po kung nagkamali ako ng parada. Nung na-realize ko na talagang nawala na siya, doon na po ako nagtanong kung may nakakita po," Joshua said.

["I wondered if I had made a mistake remembering where I parked. But when I realized it was gone, that's when I asked around if anybody had seen it."]

In the CCTV footage, Joshua parked his bike behind a white vehicle. When Joshua stepped away, a man could be seen circling the place before taking the bicycle.

After Joshua's video went viral, help came from his fellow riders, including a motovlogger named Team Katagumpay also known as Jay. In his vlog, Jay gave Joshua a bike, helmet, lights, bottle holder, face mask, and five days' worth of his salary.

Just last Friday, Joshua received a delivery booking. At the drop off point, vlogger Motor ni Juan was waiting to surprise him.

Motor ni Juan gave him a repossessed motorcycle!

"Sukli 'yan sa inyo kasi nakita namin 'yung pagsisikap n'yo."

["Take this as a reward for all your hard work."]

The KMJS team also offered Joshua financial aid. Joshua thanked his generous donors for their support.

"Doon po sa mga tumulong sa akin, sobra-sobra po ang pasasalamat ko sa inyo. Mabuhay po kayo!"

["To those who helped me, I offer my deepest gratitude."]

He also shared a message to his bike thief.

"Doon sa kumuha ng bike ko sana magamit mo sa mabuti kasi napakabuting bagay niyan para sa akin. Kahit saan kasama ko 'yan. Kung hindi mo man maibenta, magamit mo sa magandang bagay," he said.

["To the person who stole my bike, I hope you use it for good because that bike was useful to me. It was with me wherever I went. If you're not selling it, I hope you put it to good use."]
