'Fullmetal Alchemist' drops cryptic teaser for 20th anniversary project

It looks like something big is coming, FMA fans.

Entertainment company Square Enix just unveiled a website that features a countdown to a 20th anniversary project.

The webpage features what seems to be a live-action version of the character Scar, and the countdown is set to end on March 2.

According to Anime News Network, posters featuring the same visual were distributed at movie theaters in Japan.

"Fullmetal Alchemist," the original manga by Hiromu Arakawa, just celebrated its 20th anniversary in July.

It follows two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, as they make the journey to restore their original bodies after they committed the alchemy taboo: human transmutation.

The manga was serialized in Monthly Shonen Gangan from July 12, 2001 until June 11, 2010, and was adapted into an anime in 2003, followed by a reboot in 2009.

In December, Square Enix announced that it is developing a game based on the series, to be released this 2022. —JCB, GMA News
