'Beyblade' movie in the works at Paramount —report

Paramount is breathing life into another relic from our childhood — Beyblade!

According to a Deadline report, Jerry Bruckheimer will produce a live-action movie based on the popular toy franchise.

Neil Widener and Gavin James are scripting the project, the report added.

Beyblade is a line of spinning top toys developed by Japanese toy company Takara in 1999. A manga series of the same name was released at the same time.

It inspired media franchises like the 2001 anime "Beyblade," and two films: "Beyblade: Fierce Battle" (2002), and "Metal Fight Beyblade vs the Sun: Sol Blaze, the Scorching Hot Invader" (2010). —JCB, GMA News
