Who is 'Morbius'? Jared Leto explains the lore behind his Marvel character
Another Marvel character is getting screen time soon, but how ready are you to meet him?
In a newly-released featurette, Jared Leto talked about his upcoming film "Morbius."
The "Joker" actor will play the Marvel legend Dr. Michael Morbius, who is sick with a rare blood disorder and is determined to find a cure.
After disappearing for two months, he comes back with mysterious powers and with the urge to hunt and consume blood.
The so-called living vampire was first introduced as an antagonist in "The Amazing Spider-Man" in 1971, Leto said, but he eventually evolved into more of an "anti-hero."
"For years before that, Marvel was actually forbidden from using characters considered more on the supernatural side, so it was a really big deal when Morbius finally made his debut," he said.
"He was part of a much darker term within Marvel, one that fortunately fans fully embraced the character after all. Everyone loves a good monster story," he added.
"Morbius" is arriving in Philippine cinemas on March 30. —JCB, GMA News
