‘Doraemon’ co-creator Fujiko Fujio passes away at 88
“Doraemon” co-creator Fujiko Fujio, whose real name is Motoo Abiko, has passed away. He was 88 years old.
According to a Nikkei Asia report Thursday, the Japanese manga artist died inside his home in Kawasaki, Japan. No cause of death has been revealed, as of this writing.
Apart from creating “Doraemon” with his childhood friend Hiroshi Fujimoto, Motoo Abiko is known for works including “Kaibutsu-kun (The Monster Kid)” and “The Laughing Salesman.”
Motoo Abiko and Hiroshi Fujimoto are collectively known as Fujiko Fujio. Among their other works include the hit series “Obake no Q-taro,” which circles on a mischievous ghost.
