Tom Cruise flies a fighter jet in behind-the-scenes video of 'Top Gun: Maverick'

"Top Gun: Maverick" just released a featurette and Tom Cruise is as cool as ever.

The video revealed that the action star and his fellow actors flew actual fighter jets for their scenes.

Cruise said that he wasn't up for a sequel until technology has evolved so they could tell a story worth telling, and realistically too.

"I wasn't ready to make a sequel until we had a special story worthy of a sequel and technology evolved so we can delve deeper into the experiences of a fighter pilot," he said.

"We worked with the Navy and the Top Gun school to formulate how to shoot it practically. Because if we’re going to do it, we’re going to fly in the F-18s," he added.

Cruise even helped design his co-stars' flying modules.

"I started them out in single-engine airplanes, to build out their spacial awareness inside the aircraft. Next, we took them to the L-39, and they went and flew aerobatics to feel what it’s like in a jet," he said.

"Top Gun: Maverick" is the much anticipated sequel to the iconic 1986 film "Top Gun."

Cruise returns as Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, this time as a teacher to a class of elite young pilots.

"Top Gun: Maverick" is set to arrive in Philippine theaters on May 25. —JCB, GMA News
