'Stranger Things' creator hints at a 'pretty exciting' project after show ends at Season 5
"Stranger Things" is ending at Season 5, and the show's creators warned that it might feel "a little early."
However, co-creator Matt Duffer told SFX Magazine that it would be better to end the show that way.
"We’re going to feel like we still have a lot more gas left in the tank," he was quoted as saying. "But I think that it’s better to end there with us wanting more. That’s why ending at five felt like the right move."
He added that he and Ross Duffer have been tight-lipped about what else they're planning for the "Stranger Things" universe.
"We haven’t told anyone our plans, not even Netflix," he said. "We have some ideas. In terms of if we were to do any sort of a spin-off, or any continuation of Stranger Things, for us the bar was always, ‘Is the idea exciting enough that we feel the pull of wanting to do it again?’ I want to feel the pull of, ‘God, I really want to do this. I feel really, really excited about this.’ So that’s why we’re being careful about what that is and whether we move forward with it or not."
He added that they didn't want to feel like they were "retreading on what we've already done."
"I do think we have something that could be pretty exciting. So we’ll see," he said.
Last February, the Duffer Brothers said that "Stranger Things" Season 5 would conclude the show, which was first released on Netflix in 2016.
The upcoming fourth season will be split into two volumes. Volume 1 will premiere on May 27, while Volume 2 will premiere on July 1.
