FELIP, or SB19's Ken, performs for the Recording Academy's Global Spin

FELIP, also known as Ken from P-Pop boy group SB19, made Filipinos proud when he performed his single “Bulan” for the Recording Academy’s Global Spin.

Global Spin is the Grammys’ digital series that features performances from artists around the world.

FELIP — the name he uses for his solo releases — is the first full-blooded Filipino to perform on the series. Filipino-American singer Francisco Martin previously performed in May.

In the episode, FELIP is no longer the reserved and quiet artist he was once known as. For this performance of the powerful rap song “Bulan,” FELIP channeled the Bicolano primordial moon god.

According to the video, FELIP used Bulan’s story as a metaphor for crab mentality — when one gets successful in whatever aspect they find important, other people react negatively. Through his song, FELIP tells his listeners to not get consumed by this.

FELIP and his backup dancers performed the song at the Teatrillo in Intramuros, Manila.

The hashtag #FELIPonGlobalSpin was also the number one trending topic on Twitter Philippines on Wednesday morning. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA News
