Twin sisters graduate summa cum laude from UP Diliman after only 3 years
These twin sisters graduated summa cum laude at the same time after just three years!
On July 31, Margaret Esther “Marge” Cruz and Madelyn Esther “Mads” Cruz received their degree in BS Mathematics from University of the Philippines Diliman.
As shared by Kumon Valenzuela Center on Facebook, the twins started their learning journey with them at three years old.
“Still in diapers then, Mads and Marge would go to the center and learn basic counting, reading, and writing,” it said.
As they grew older, the twins also ventured into music and other fields they were passionate about.
With Marge and Mads’ hard work, they developed a “high ability in math and reading” and “were able to study high school and college materials while in elementary.”
“By kinder, they were studying long division. By grade 2, they were already doing algebra and by grade 4, they were studying trigonometry. Then by grade 6, they were able to learn integral and differential calculus.”
Marge and Mads graduated from Philippine Science High School, where they received high honors, including the Department of Science and Technology’s Youth Excellence in Science and Math Award from 2016 to 2019.
Mads will pursue her doctorate in Michigan, United States, under a scholarship grant, while Marge will continue studying at UP Diliman.
