Merriam-Webster adds 370 new words for September 2022
Yeet! Merriam-Webster just added 370 new words to its dictionary.
According to the American publisher, words that people use "over a long period of time" is one of the criteria for making them "eligible for inclusion."
In the "slang and informal language" category, Merriam-Webster said it traditionally takes longer for words to meet the dictionary's criteria, but they have to accelerate their adoption due to the internet's fast-paced lead.
Among the new words are those that not only gained popularity on the internet but those used to the bone. As in "lewk," "baller," and "yeet."
