Hallyuween 2022: What went down at the 1st K-pop Halloween party

Hallyuween 2022 was one hell of a spooky party as six K-pop acts, P-pop sensation BGYO ~and~ Filipino drag queens Lady Gagita, Lady Morgana, and Minty Fresh took the Mall of Asia Arena stage for the first-ever K-pop Halloween party.

What made it even crazier were the attendees who showed up, gamely dressed in their Halloween best.

When the lights had flickered, zombies had appeared and creepy music had been played at the beginning of the event, fans screamed, jumped and partied.

It was the drag queens who opened the evening and set the mood on high. Lady Gagita performed Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi,” Lady Morgana executed Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody," while Minty Fresh performed Ariana Grande’s “Break Free.”

At the press conference before the show, "Drag Race Philippines season 1" contender Lady Morgana shared how grateful she was to be performing that evening.

“Feel namin na simple lang kaming drag queens pero pagdating namin sa MOA Arena, kahilera kami ng mga star na nag-perform like Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande at mayroon pang CL,” Lady Morgana said.

And when each K-pop act emerged on stage in their Halloween costumes, the energy among fans went up a notch and intensely showed their support.

Gaho with his band KAVE were the first among the six K-pop acts that made the audience members sing their hearts out to some of their original soundtracks like “Running” and “Start Over.” They also covered BLACKPINK’S “How you like that."

Before performing their last song, “Right Now,” Gaho promised the audience they will return for their own concert, charging the fans even further.

Despite being incomplete — Hui, Hongseok and Yanan still had commitments in South Korea — Pentagon managed to pull off an exciting performance.

They make the audience feel the “kilig” and happiness through their songs like “Feelin Like” and “Call My Name” and subsequently ended their set on a high with the hit song “Shine.”

KARD was the third K-pop act to hit the stage. Opening with their most recent single “Ring the Alarm”, KARD members J.Seph, BM, Somin, and Jiwoo made the audience feel the need to ask for more.

KARD didn't just perform the encore the crowd asked for. Before performing "Red Moon," KARD member J.Seph even interacted with the crowd, daring to take off his clothes, acting as though the venue was turning hot.

What J.Seph wanted was make the audience cheer, which he ever so successfully managed. Boy did the crowd go wild.

Hip hop group Epik High followed, opening with “Burj Khalifa” and ending with “Don’t Hate Me.” They took everyone’s attention during the event with a total of five songs and made everyone feel the euphoria through performer-audience interactions.

Not only did the fans posed for the selfie that Epik High member Tablo tried to take with the audience, they also went crazy as Epik High threw a signed a shirt to the audience.

Hallyuween 2022’s headliner CL owned and killed the stage next. When she appeared, the fans insanely screamed and made her feel how much they love her.

People inside the venue just can’t stop to express excitement and to show great emotions as they watched the former 2NE1 leader spookily and fierily dance, sing and perform. CL really set the venue on fire with her performance of “Spicy.” She eventually went all out in performing songs such as “The Baddest Female,” “5 Star,” and “Lover Like Me.”

CL ended her set with “Hello Bitches,” eventually holding a moment to announce the winners of the best Halloween costumes. She thanked all the Filipino fans and drove them wild when she said, “Mahal ko kayo.”

The party did not stop after CL’s performances as DJ Soda closed the event with her Halloween treats.

Dressed in a Spiderman-inspired costume, DJ Soda showed the audience her DJing skills and played music that contributed to the euphoric experience of being at a concert.

Of course Hallyuween wasn't complete without BGYO, the only P-pop sensation that performed among K-pop acts.

They bravely showcased their talents, performing a total of four songs: “Isigaw Mo,” “Kundiman,” “The Baddest,” and “Magnet.”

At the press conference, BGYO said performing at Hallyuween was a "dream come true."

“‘Yung mga K-pop artists na invited, sobrang idol po namin sila. Sobrang ‘dream come true’ at milestone for us na kami lang ang [mga] Pinoy sa event na ito kasama ang drag queens,” Gelo said.

Truly, Hallyuween 2022 was not only a night for K-pop, but also a night for Filipino talents. A night for Halloween fun. A night for every attendee to remember. — with reports from Daeron Pabiloña/LA, GMA News
