Paramore makes a statement with new single and music video 'The News'

Paramore is back with a new single, and they aim to make a statement with it.

In “The News,” the rock band opens up about the frustrating and heartbreaking news that happens daily, feeling helpless that they can’t do anything about it. The lyrics tackle topics like war and reference the pandemic lockdowns.

The trippy and intriguing video also features two versions of vocalist Hayley Williams, one with white eyes wearing a hoodie that says “Turn off” in all caps, and another clad in a fancy dress with a bleeding mouth.

Once again, Paramore showcased their range of musicality — the song sounds like a great mix of their early emo days and their funky style from recent years.

“The News” follows the band’s comeback single “This is Why.” The tracks are part of Paramore’s upcoming album to be released on February 10, 2023. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA Integrated News
