Shaira Diaz signs up for Alden Richards's Mobile Legends tournament

Shaira Diaz has signed up for Alden Richards' Myriad Esports Cup as a player!

In Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras Weekend," the "Unang Hirit" host said she only watched Mobile Legends tournaments before and never competed herself.

"This time, sabi ko sasali ako kasi gusto ko talaga ma-experience kung paano ba 'yung ikaw mismo 'yung maglalaro tas marami kayong kalaban," Shaira said.

("This time, I told myself I will join because I really want to experience playing and facing many opponents.")

Shaira is among several Kapuso ladies, such as Megan Young and Myrtle Sarrosa, who are self-confessed gamers.

Alden himself is an avid gamer. He once went viral after sharing his high-end gaming setup on Twitter.

The "Start-Up PH" star launched the Myriad Esports Cup to help discover players who can represent the Philippines in the international ML scene.

The champion of the tournament will also get to nominate a student who will receive a scholarship.

"Since I'm a gamer by heart, ito naman 'yung way ko para matulungan 'yung community ng esports," he said.

("Since I'm a gamer by heart, this is my way to help the esports community.")

The Myriad Esports Cup is open to amateur Mobile Legends teams with non-professional players aged 18-25. Each team will have six members, a five-man team and a slot for a coach or a substitute. Players once registered cannot be replaced.

The tournament will commence on January 28.
