Did you know? Pampanga has its own version of the game Bingo

Did you know? Pampanga has its own version of the game Bingo.

According to Kuya Kim's "24 Oras" report, Thursday, they call it the Saparyut.

Instead of letters B, I, N, G, and O, the card used has photos called Cuajo symbols.

"Ang makukuha nilang symbol, ilalagay mo do'n sa card na 'yon just like Bingo. You win the game by forming straight lines and other winning combinations," said Robby Tantingco, director of Holy Angel University's Center for Kapampangan Studies.

"'Yung Saparyut, not widely known, not commercially available, is a heritage game that's handed down from our ancestors," he added.

Meanwhile, Bingo is believed to have come from the Italian lottery called Il Gioco D'Italia during the 1530s. It spread to different countries in Europe in the 18th century.

The first modern version of Bingo was played at a carnival and fair in the 1920s. Its design was made by Edwin Lowe in 1942.
