After 'Maria Clara at Ibarra' MV for 'Kayumanggi,' Ben&Ben says: 'Embrace your cultural roots'
Ben&Ben’s song “Kayumanggi” recently got a “Maria Clara at Ibara” music video, and the nine-piece folk-pop band couldn't be prouder.
In a post shared across all their social media pages, Ben&Ben shared the inspiration behind the 2021 song.
“The melody is inspired by our love for folk music, and the lyrics aim to inspire you to embrace your own unique identity and cultural roots,” they said.
"We really hope that when you listen to it, you'll feel a deep sense of connection and belonging towards your cultural heritage," they added.
“Kayumanggi” is part of Ben&Ben’s 2021 album “Pebble House, Vol. 1: Kwaderno,” which talks about being proud of one’s Filipino identity, a theme that is very much in line with “Maria Clara at Ibarra.”
Previously, Ben&Ben’s lead vocalist Paolo Benjamin aired his support with “Maria Clara at Ibarra” and called it a “groundbreaking show.”
“Maria Clara at Ibarra” will air its finale on Friday.
