JoJo lands lead role in 'Moulin Rouge' Broadway musical
JoJo has just been cast as Satine in Broadway's "Moulin Rouge! The Musical."
The singer made the announcement on Instagram, expressing her delight over making her Broadway debut — with a lead role, to boot!
"When I first saw this musical I fell instantly head over heels in love," she said. "I watched from the edge of my seat, hanging onto every word of every song."
"The opportunity to play Satine feels like the culmination of so many dreams. I cannot believe I get to join this phenomenal cast and company!!!! You guys blow me away," she added.
JoJo thanked the producers and directors for believing in her.
"Performing on Broadway and living in NYC?! This is all a dream come true. I know this show means so much to so many and I promise to put all I have into every single night as Satine," she said.
She then quoted a line from the iconic movie: "The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return..."
The role of Satine was previously held by Ashley Lore. JoJo will have a 14-week limited run starting April 11 at Broadway's Al Hirschfeld Theatre.
She will star opposite Derek Klena, who will take on the role of Christian after Aaron Tveit.
JoJo is famous for hits like "Leave (Get Out)," "Too Little Too Late," and "Baby It's You."
