Michael V. says his 'Uhaw' parody is a 'reminder' for content creators

Michael V. said his latest parody of "Uhaw" is not a diss track but a reminder to content creators to keep challenging themselves in their craft.

According to Nelson Canlas's report on "24 Oras," Tuesday, the song is originally performed by indie rock collective group "Dilaw."

While "Uhaw" is about pining over a someone, Bitoy's version, titled "Oh Wow," is about mediocre social media content.

"Ang dami yatang naka-relate. Nagiging toxic na rin kasi ang mga content creators ngayon," the Kapuso Comedy Genius said.

"'Yung mga content creators dapat alam n'yo ang salitang content. I'd like to say it's a reminder. Hindi lang sa kanila kundi sa sarili ko," he added. "Sana maka inspire tayo ng generation na, 'Ah, hindi pa puwede, puwede pang pagandahin.'"

The "Oh Wow" video, where Michael V. can be seen as a one-man team doing the vocals, keyboard, guitar, and bass all by himself, has fetched over 12 million views and counting.

The lyrics include lines like "Mag-react sa viral video ko walang effort content na 'tong pang-po-po-post" and "kahit di kaya pinilit kahit na pangit pwede na 'tong ipo-po-post."

Dilaw saw the video and thanked Bitoy for making a parody of their song.

"Hi Daddy M. Thank you so much. Love you," said Leonard "Dilaw" Obero.

Bitoy said he admires the band hailing from Baguio for their story and their success.

"Makikita mong passionate talaga sa ginagawa nila. Sana ganoon. Sana lahat ganoon. Sana uhaw lahat sa excellence," he said.
