'Sakamoto Days' to get live-action adaptation in 2026; Ren Meguro to star

“Sakamoto Days,” a popular Japanese manga and anime, is getting a live-action adaptation in 2026.

According to the official teaser, the film will star Japanese pop idol Ren Meguro in the lead role of Taro Sakamoto.

The film will be directed by Yuichi Fukuda, with Keiya Taguchi overseeing the action choreography.

"Sakamoto Days" follows the story of Sakamoto, a retired professional hitman-turned-convenience store owner who comes back to his dark past to protect his family and loved ones.

The manga, written and illustrated by Yuto Suzu, was the inspiration for the Netflix anime series of the same name, which premiered in January. —Hermes Joy Tunac/JCB, GMA Integrated News
