Makait City Library launches Honesty Book Trolley Project for PDLs

Check out the Honesty Book Trolley Project by the Makati City Library. It's a mobile library stationed inside the Makati City Jail that's designed to promote education and rehabilitation among Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).

In collaboration with the Alternative Learning System (ALS) and the Makati City Jail, the Honesty Book Trolley Project aims to provide PDLs with free access to educational and leisure reading materials that do not need to be returned.

“Built on trust and self-discipline, the project encourages lifelong learning and the development of positive values,” Makati LGU wrote on Facebook.

The LGU added that the project seeks to “enrich the lives of PDLs by fostering a culture of knowledge, self-improvement, and hope, while strengthening Makati’s commitment to inclusive education and rehabilitation.”

The Honesty Book Trolley Project has been stationed inside the Makati City Jail and will remain available until the end of 2025.

“Its collection will be refreshed every month to ensure updated and engaging reading materials,” the statement read.

They are open to accept donations anytime, and those interested may drop off the book donations at 8th floor of Makati City Hall.

“The books will also support ALS teachers in conducting literacy and life skills sessions inside the facility,” they added.
