'Peaky Blinders' sequel series in the works at Netflix and BBC
The story of the Shelbys is not over yet!
A "Peaky Blinders" sequel is in the works at Netflix and BBC.
According to People Magazine, two seasons have already been ordered, with creator Steven Knight returning to helm the new series. Each season will feature six hour-long episodes.
Knight said the story will center on a "new generation of Shelbys."
"Once again it will be rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz. The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel and it will be a hell of a ride," he said in a statement.
The series will be set in 1953 Britain, after Birmingham builds "a better future out of concrete and steel," the People report added.
Cillian Murphy, the star of the original series, will function as an executive producer for the sequel, along with Karen Wilson and Martin Haines (Kudos), Jamie Glazebrook (Garrison Drama), Jo McClellan (BBC) and Mona Qureshi and Toby Bentley for Netflix.
"Peaky Blinders" is a period crime drama set in Birmingham, England. It follows Tommy Shelby, who leads the Peaky Blinders gang and gets nabbed by inspector Chester Campbell.
It first started airing in 2013. In 2022, Knight announced that "the TV series will be coming to an end," but that "the story will continue in another form."
