20 Years of Sapphire Blue Ocean: Super Junior’s Super Show 10 in Manila

20 Years of Sapphire Blue Ocean: Super Junior’s Super Show 10 in Manila

Twenty years of music, memories, and metaphorical sapphire-blue tears filled the Mall of Asia Arena last Saturday as Super Junior brought their 20th anniversary world tour, “Super Show 10,” to Manila. The concert was presented by PULP Live World, the same team that had first introduced the group to Manila in 2010.

From the opening beats of their debut track “Twins (Knock Out)” to the soaring melodies of their latest album, the crowd of E.L.F.s (Ever Lasting Friends) laughed, sang, and shed tears with the Kings of Hallyu, who have been a part of their lives for two unforgettable decades.

The Manila leg of "Super Show 10" felt more like a heartfelt love letter than a concert, a sincere thank you from Super Junior to the fans who have stood by them through the years.

The setlist was a time capsule, spanning early classics like 'U,' 'Sorry, Sorry,' 'Bonamana,' and 'Mr. Simple,' to newer favorites such as 'Express Mode' and 'Finale' off their latest album, "Super Junior25." Each song unlocked a core memory, whether it was the first time you heard K-pop on MTV or the radio, the first fanchant, the first sapphire-blue lightstick raised in unison.

One of the most touching moments came during a special video segment that told the story of a fan who rediscovered her Super Junior memorabilia while moving out of her childhood home. The box of keepsakes transported her back to the moment she first fell in love with the group. As she raised her lightstick once more, the message was crystal clear: Even after twenty years, the bond between Super Junior and their fans remains unbreakable, strong, bright, and sapphire blue.

The show also marked Heechul’s return to the Philippine stage. With Leeteuk, Yesung, Shindong, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon, Ryeowook, and Kyuhyun by his side, the stage once again felt like home.

For longtime E.L.F.s, the night was a whirlwind of joy, nostalgia, and renewed devotion.

Thank you, Super Junior, for 20 legendary years. And to the E.L.F.s, thank you for keeping the sapphire-blue flame alive. — LA, GMA Integrated News
