GMA Pictures to produce 'Ella Arcangel' animated film set to drop in 2026

“Ella Arcangel” will be coming alive on the big screen soon!

The beloved Filipino horror-fantasy comic series has been announced to be produced into an animated film by GMA Pictures, teaming up with no less than the original creators.

“Ella Arcangel: Awit ng Pangil at Kuko” tells the story of a young mambabarang, or witch, who fights both humans and mythical monsters in the city to protect her community.

The digital animated film will be adapted from the 2017 comic book series written and illustrated by Julius Villanueva. It is directed by National Book Awardee Mervin Malonzo, the comic book creator of “Tabi Po.”  

The film is produced by Manny Angeles and Avid Liongoren, the creative duo behind “Hayop Ka! The Nimfa Dimaano Story.”

“Ella Arcangel: Awit ng Pangil at Kuko” premieres in cinemas in 2026.
