John Green visits Guimaras to support health campaign vs. tuberculosis

American author John Green visited Jordan, Guimaras, in the Western Visayas to support the launch of the province's latest health campaign, called the "Tuberculosis -Free Guimaras Island Initiative (TBFGII)."

On Facebook, the Province of Guimaras page shared some snaps from the luncheon-gathering for the initiative on Monday, where Green also held a special book signing session for his latest book, “Everything Is Tuberculosis: The History and Persistence of Our Deadliest Infection."

His new book is about the global campaign to combat tuberculosis, which is considered the world’s deadliest infectious disease.

“Green’s participation in the TB-Free Guimaras event reflects his ongoing advocacy for public health, equity, and global cooperation in ending tuberculosis,” the caption read.

Local leaders and global partners, including representatives from the Department of Health, the World Health Organization, the Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Stop TB, Qure, and more attended the launch on Monday.

The TBFGII aims to reduce tuberculosis-related deaths in the province of Guimaras by at least 90% by 2030 through comprehensive testing, enhanced treatment of TB, and accessible, quality health services for the community.

Meanwhile, Green is known for his bestselling novels “The Fault in Our Stars,” “Looking for Alaska,” and “Turtles All the Way Down,” which had live-action adaptations.
