The new Miss World Chile is a death-metal singer!
This beauty queen rocked her way into winning Miss World Chile.
Meet Ignacia Fernandez, a model and animal rights advocate, and the vocalist of death-metal band Decessus, who bested 19 other hopefuls for the Miss World Chile title on Sunday, November 9.
“The 27-year-old singer who represented the Santiago commune of Las Condes, known as the lead vocalist of the metal band Decessus, captivated both the judges and the audience with her authenticity and artistic strength,” Miss World said.
Ignacia's death-metal performance at the pageant not only went viral. It also pushed Ignacia to the Top 3 in the talent category and got global stars like Rosalía, Rita Ora, Evanescence, and Ellie Goulding taking notice.
Shortly after her coronation, Ignacia told Miss World, “I’m so happy and still in shock. I never expected this. I’m deeply grateful for all the support and love I’ve received from people around the world.”
Ignacia is the founder and lead vocalist of Decessus, a progressive death-metal band. They have performed in Finland and Germany.
In a previous post that Instagram translated into English, Ignacia said “Metal has been a fundamental part of who I am as a person and in my life: a refuge, a source of strength and purpose.”
She added that being able to “express it onstage” at Miss World Chile “was an opportunity I deeply value.”
“It was a great experience to break down barriers on open television, inspire, be real with it and show that you don't have to fear the prejudices of others,” Ignacia said.
The 27-year-old is also known as one of Chile’s top models and is represented by Elite Model Management.
Ignacia will be representing Chile at the 73rd Miss World Festival in 2026.
Meanwhile, Miss World Philippines is gearing up for the national pageant. It aims to crown three queens this season.
