'The Legend of Zelda' live action film unveils first look at Link and Zelda

Nintendo has given us our first official look at the live action Link and Zelda!

On X, Nintendo video game designer and film producer Shigeru Miyamoto shared stills of the sprawling green fields of Hyrule. Princess Zelda (Bo Bragason) carries a bow and arrow, while her knight, Link (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth), crouches behind her.

Miyamoto said that filming is on track for movie's release on May 7, 2027.

"It will take a while until the release, so we would be grateful if you would wait patiently and look forward to it," he said.

Nintendo announced the live action film in 2023, and revealed the actors earlier this year.

Bragason has starred in "The Radleys," "The Jetty," "Renegade Nell," "Three Girls," and more. Ainsworth, for his part, has starred in the live-action "Pinocchio," "Flora and Ulysses," and "The Haunting of Bly Manor," among others.

"The Legend of Zelda" is a video game franchise created by Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka, with the first game released in 1986. Notable installations in recent years are "Breath of the Wild" and its sequel "Tears of the Kingdom."

The games generally follow Link as he saves Princess Zelda and the kingdom of Hyrule.
