'The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping' official teaser introduces the new tributes

The new Hunger Games will soon begin!

"Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping," the newest installation to the popular film franchise, just released its official trailer.

Joseph Zada breathes life into young Haymitch Abernathy, the leader of the District 12 tributes. The teaser shows the reaping taking place, as well as the start of the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell.

It also gives a glimpse of the tributes from other districts, as well as young Effie Trinket, played by Elle Fanning.

Based on the new novel by author Suzanne Collins, “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping” is set 40 years after the events of the prequel “The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes," and 24 years before Katniss Everdeen enters the arena.

In the original "Hunger Games" trilogy, Haymitch is the mentor of Katniss and Peeta Mellark.

“The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping” will be released on November 20, 2026. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
