'Peter Pan' stars Jeremy Sumpter, Rachel Hurd-Wood reunite for film 'Strawberry Roan'

Jeremy Sumpter and Rachel Hurd-Wood, who starred as Peter Pan and Wendy Darling in the iconic 2003 live-action adaptation of “Peter Pan,” are reuniting for an upcoming project.

According to a report by Deadline, Jeremy and Rachel will star in the romantic comedy film "Strawberry Roan,” which will also mark the former’s directorial debut.

“Stepping into my first feature as a director is incredible on its own, but getting to share it with Rachel makes it even more special,” Jeremy said.

He also reflected on their history, noting that they “forged such a deep bond on ‘Peter Pan,’ and reuniting after all these years feels like a homecoming of sorts.

"There’s something profoundly full circle about creating again with someone who helped shape such an important part of my childhood. I’m overwhelmed—in the best way—and so grateful for this chance to tell a story together."

Based on a true event written by Courtney Paige and Julia Mulberry, “Strawberry Roan” follows a young couple, featuring Rachel as a devoted horse enthusiast and Jeremy as a failed stock market trader.

The plot centers on the pair draining their savings to chase a dream across the border, specifically aiming to start a horse sanctuary in Mexico.

The story will explore how their ambition and love collide, ultimately revealing that “the richest reward isn’t the future they imagined—it’s the trust, courage, and connection they rediscover on the road together.”

Filming is scheduled to begin in the spring in New Mexico. —Carby Rose Basina/JCB, GMA Integrated News
