'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' final trailer sets fun tone for 'Game of Thrones' prequel
There's a lot of jousting, a lot of horses, and a lot of whimsy in the final trailer of "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms," the upcoming spin-off series of "Game of Thrones."
Set 100 years before the events of "Game of Thrones," the prequel follows Ser Duncan the Tall, known as Dunk, played by Peter Claffey.
The trailer shows Dunk getting approached by a boy named Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell), who offers to become his squire. "Every knight needs a squire, and you look like you need one more than most," Egg says.
Dunk — who is shown heading off the wrong direction, being teased for his farmer-like clothes, and described "like a knight, but sadder" — expresses an interest in working for House Targaryen.
However, he is told, "Aerion would like your head."
"A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" is based on novellas by "Game of Thrones" author George R.R. Martin.
The series also stars Finn Bennett, Bertie Carvel, Daniel Ings, Tanzyn Crawford, Sam Spruell, Ross Anderson, Edward Ashley, Henry Ashton, Youssef Kerkour, Daniel Monks, Shaun Thomas, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Steve Wall, and Danny Webb.
It is set to premiere on January 18 on HBO Max.
