Markiplier's 'Iron Lung' to screen in Philippine cinemas

Markiplier's horror film “Iron Lung” is coming to the Philippines!

In a recent YouTube livestream, Markiplier announced that the film will have a theatrical release in several international territories, including the Philippines, as part of its next rollout.

“Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Timor Leste, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea. That’s the initial. There might be more after that. I’m still kind of just like ‘Oh, wow! We’re going there.’ So, that’s what’s gonna be in the next batch, and also France, and then I believe a couple other places,” Markiplier said.

According to Forbes, the streamer's self-financed film has become a major box office success by earning $21.7 million worldwide in its opening weekend, which is approximately seven times its reported $3 million budget.

“Iron Lung” is based on the 2022 horror game by David Szymanski and is accompanied by music by Andrew Hulshult.

It marks Markiplier’s debut as a feature filmmaker and is a self-funded project in which he serves as director, writer, producer, editor, and lead actor. —Carby Rose Basina/JCB, GMA Integrated News
