'Pokémon Winds,' 'Pokémon Waves' trailer sparks buzz among Pinoy fans over SEA-inspired landscapes
The first-look trailer for “Pokémon Winds” and “Pokémon Waves” has sent Filipino and other Southeast Asian fans abuzz!
On Friday, Pokémon released a three-minute video showcasing the games’ setting: a tropical region full of forests, beaches, and waterfalls.
Pinoy fans excitedly pointed out that some of the lush, terraced landscapes shown in the video reminds them of the Banaue Rice Terraces.
Meanwhile, some viewers also shared posts noting similarities to the iconic natural and coastal scenery of Indonesia and Malaysia.
Pokémon has not specified where it drew inspiration for the new game's setting, but Southeast Asian fans remain thrilled over the likeness to their home countries.

According to the company’s website, the upcoming titles are being developed by Game Freak exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2.
The games will feature an open world set across windswept islands and a vast ocean with glittering waves, where Pokémon live in harmony with the region’s lush environment and have developed unique ecosystems.
Players will team up with various Pokémon to overcome challenges along their journey, including natural forces that may block their path.
The main character’s outfit will differ depending on which version players choose.
Trainers will also begin their adventure with one of three first partner Pokémon: Browt, a lively but clumsy Grass-type Bean Chick Pokémon; Pombon, a guileless and friendly Fire-type Puppy Pokémon; or Gecqua, an intelligent Water-type Gecko Pokémon.
The trailer likewise introduced two special Pikachu with new looks, Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu, though further details about their roles have yet to be revealed.
