The One Piece is real, but Eiichiro Oda just hid the truth about it in the deep sea
For the first time ever, Eiichiro Oda has written down the truth about the One Piece on paper.
The secret of what the One Piece is and if it even exists has kept fans of the legendary manga wondering, ever since the series was serialized on Weekly Shonen Jump in 1997.
In celebration of selling 600 million copies worldwide, Oda has released a special video that has excitement sparking among avid fans: the One Piece is indeed real!
"That answer has been determined since the very beginning," the video says. "The secret never written down, kept in the mind of creator Eiichiro Oda."
The video shows Oda inscribing the secret on paper "at long last." However, he tears it in half, and locks the bottom half in a small treasure chest.
The chest is then taken to a drop point on the ocean, and sunk 651 meters below the surface, where it will stay until the story is completed.
"The truth will rest far beyond anyone's reach," the video says. "At the bottom of the ocean."
Oda's long-running manga "One Piece" follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, the captain of the Straw Hat pirate crew, in his quest to find the ultimate treasure, the One Piece, and become King of the Pirates.
It was adapted into anime in 1999. Both manga and anime are still ongoing.
In 2023, Netflix released a live-action TV adaptation, which quickly became a global hit. Season 2 is set to premiere on March 10. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
