Tom Holland's Spider-Man is making a welcome return to the big screen, with the teaser trailer taking over the internet following its release on Wednesday night.

After the devastating memory-wipe that happened in the previous movie, what's in store for Peter Parker in "Spider-Man: Brand New Day"?

Here's what we can gleam off of the teaser trailer, including details you may have missed:

Peter Parker is undergoing changes

Our boy Peter is going through it, and that's an understatement.

After his identity was revealed to the world in "Spider-Man: Far From Home" and he was framed for murder, he sought to reverse the backlash in "Spider-Man: No Way Home." However, things go wrong, and Peter ends up erasing himself from everyone's memory, with help from Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch).

The teaser trailer of "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" sets the story four years later, and Peter is back to being a hero. He even gets the keys to the city of New York.

However, he is clearly in the dumps, stalking his former best friend and girlfriend, Ned (Jacob Batalon) and MJ (Zendaya), who are living their lives as MIT students. He does reckless stunts as Spider-Man and gets repeatedly injured.

Heartbreak and risky business aside, he also seems to be getting physically ill. He is shown sweaty and pale, passing out, and wondering, "What is happening to me?"

Peter shoots out organic webs

A confused Peter is shown waking up to find himself cocooned in webs at his apartment. As he falls out of his window, wearing nothing but his boxers — in other words, no costume — he saves himself by shooting a web from his wrist.

To recall, this is not something that Peter had been able to do before. Marvel's Spider-Man uses synthetic webs, shooting them from mechanical devices on his wrists. In fact, in "Spider-Man: No Way Home," Holland's Peter Parker expresses disbelief at how Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker is able to produce webs from his own body.

This is just one of the physical changes that Peter is going through. The trailer also flashes a scene of his eyes turning fully black.

According to Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), Peter's DNA is mutating.

To be more precise, he seems to be undergoing a metamorphosis.

The trailer declare that spiders have three life cycles.

"When between cycles, it can leave the spider vulnerable to threats, and for those spiders who make it through, it amounts to a kind of rebirth."

Man-Spider arc incoming?

Peter already knows Punisher

It is not shown how, but Peter Parker and Punisher are already acquainted in "Spider-Man: Brand New Day."

Jon Bernthal returns as the antihero Frank Castle, making a grand entrance in the movie by hitting Peter with his van.

The pair exchanges hits and blows, with Peter shutting Frank up with a web on his mouth, saying, "Go home!"

Bernthal's Punisher, a Marine-turned-vigilante, appeared in the second season of "Daredevil."

MJ and Ned don't remember Peter, but...

At the end of "No Way Home," Peter made the decision not to introduce himself again to Ned and MJ, allowing them a life free of danger as they begin their studies in MIT. It was shown that Peter's old friends did not recognize him at all.

Adding salt to the wound is that the "Brand New Day" trailer shows MJ with a new love interest, played by Eman Esfandi.

However, if you look closely at one of the scenes teased in the trailer, MJ has photos of Spider-Man plastered on her wall, prompting fans to theorize that she and Ned might be investigating New York's friendly neighborhood hero. The two are also shown watching Spider-Man news on TV.

There's also a scene of Spider-Man in mask and costume, standing in front of MJ.

Dr. Banner is human again

The angst just gets worse because when Peter approaches Dr. Banner, he gets a: "What did you say your name was?"

Dr. Banner still helps him, but another important detail here is that Dr. Banner is... well, Dr. Banner. Not the Hulk.

This is interesting to note since the last few times we see Dr. Banner, he's stuck walking and talking as the Hulk.

However, fans have noticed that Dr. Banner has a device strapped to his wrist, so that might have something to do with it.

The Scorpion appears

Michael Mando's Mac Gargan, who first appears in "Spider-Man: Homecoming," is back as another villain.

He is now the foe Scorpion, who, upon encountering Peter, snaps, "Stay out of my way."

The criminal-turned-supervillain is in full mechanical gear, complete with massive tail.

However, he doesn't seem to be the main cause of conflict in the film.

Sadie Sink, is that you?

To this day, despite confirmation that "Stranger Things" star Sadie Sink has joined the cast of "Brand New Day," it is unclear what role she is playing.

She is not expressly shown in the trailer, but fans recognized her even with her back turned, hoodie up. There are other glimpses of her seemingly strapped to a chair.

It is speculated that she plays X-Men's Jean Gray, which would explain the invisible forces that has been attacking people in the trailer.

"We are faced with a danger that we can't control. One we can't even see," someone says in the trailer.

Marvel previously announced that the X-Men will appear in "Avengers: Doomsday," set to be released this December.
