BTS at Super Bowl? K-pop kings say they 'definitely' want to do it someday
Following Bad Bunny's Super Bowl Halftime Show earlier this year, the internet went abuzz with the possibility of having another non-English act follow in his footsteps. Many were specifically calling for BTS across social media platforms, and Billboard's poll for the next Super Bowl showed high support for the the South Korean supergroup.
Rolling Stone senior writer Brian Hiatt brought up the idea in a new interview with BTS.
BTS expressed their openness to the gig, emphasizing that any appearance depends on an official invitation.
“We can’t do it unless we’re invited!” Jimin said.
J-Hope highlighted the scale of the opportunity, noting that it remains a major dream for artists across cultures.
“It’s almost too generous. Honestly, it’s a dream for any artist to perform at the Super Bowl. It’s really a big deal for artists from any culture. But first of all, we need to work hard on everything we have to do. And then we’ll forge ahead with whatever else comes our way,” he said.
Jin shared that while he has watched past Super Bowl performances and imagines how BTS could approach the stage, the opportunity still ultimately depends on an invitation.
“We’re a pretty performance-heavy group, so I imagine how we would perform if we ever get to be on that stage, but of course, we would have to be invited first. So I hope there’s an opportunity someday,” he said.
Jungkook said he wants to, but it's not up to them.
RM reflected on what he described as a near moment for Jungkook.
“Jungkook was almost there because you know, Usher invited him before the military. But yeah, it didn't work out because he went to military,” he said.
He then broadened his thoughts on the Super Bowl stage, describing it as, in his words, “officially unofficially… the best event and show stage in the whole world,” highlighting its global scale and cultural weight.
RM also pointed to recent halftime performances as part of a larger context shaping the conversation, mentioning Bad Bunny’s appearance and emphasizing his international identity.
“Bad Bunny, he was amazing and I know he's from Puerto Rico and he's also an American. So I think that was kind of context between all of that and the flow of everything. But yeah, we also always like thought of like, what if we, you know, like do some parts in the Super Bowl. Maybe we could like collaborate with other artists like the Coldplay and like Bruno Mars did. And like Lady Gaga did with, this time, with Bad Bunny,” he said.
He closed the thought on a hopeful but grounded note.
“If there's a chance, then we definitely want to someday,” he said.
