'Gundam' live-action film enters production with Sydney Sweeney, Noah Centineo

A live-action adaptation of “Gundam” is officially in production in Queensland, Australia.

On X, Netflix announced that the highly anticipated project will star Sydney Sweeney and Noah Centineo. The story is set against the backdrop of a prolonged space war.

Other cast members include Jackson White, Shioli Kutsuna, Nonso Anozie, Javon Walton, Oleksandr Rudynskyi, Ida Brooke, Gemma Chua-Tran, and Jason Isaacs.

Directed by Jim Mickle, the original storyline follows rival mech pilots battling on opposing sides of a decades-long conflict between Earth and its space colonies.

“As shifting allegiances and a growing threat set them on a collision course for one another, they’re pulled into a high-stakes race across the stars that could define the fate of humanity. With awe-inspiring battles, intimate human emotion, and an epic cinematic scale, this is Gundam like it’s been seen before,” the early description of the film read.

As of writing, no official release date on Netflix has been announced.
