5 Seconds of Summer: What the band has been up to 10 years since their last PH visit

5 Seconds of Summer is set to return to Manila in November, marking their first Philippine visit in a decade since their 2016 show.

The announcement has sparked renewed excitement among fans who have followed the band’s evolution from their younger years to being globally established pop-rock mainstays.

Here are the things 5 Seconds of Summer has been up to since their last Manila visit in 2016.

Albums released

Following their self-titled debut album 5 Seconds of Summer and Sounds Good Feels Good, the band released a series of records that explored different styles and production approaches.

  • “Youngblood” (2018) - 16 tracks
    • Includes: "Youngblood," "Want You Back," "Lie to Me," "Valentine," "Talk Fast," among others.
  • “CALM” (2020) - 13 tracks
    • Includes: "Red Desert," "No Shame," "Old Me," "Easier," "Teeth," "Wildflower," and more.
  • “5SOS5” (2022) - 19 tracks
    • Includes: "Complete Mess," "Easy for You to Say," "Bad Omens," "Me, Myself & I," "Take My Hand," and more.
  • “Everyone’s a Star!” (2025) - 12 tracks
    • Includes: "Everyone’s a Star," "Not OK," "Telephone Busy," "Boy Band," "No. 1 Obsession," among others.

Tours and global milestones

After 2016, 5 Seconds of Summer embarked on several major tours that cemented their status as headliners.

The “Meet You There Tour” in 2018 supported “Youngblood” and included shows across Asia, Australia, North America, and Europe.

The “Take My Hand World Tour” in 2022 supported both “CALM” and “5SOS5,” launching in Dublin and spanning more than 50 dates.

Solo careers

Following the release of “CALM,” all four members started pursuing solo music, exploring different styles outside the band.

Ashton Irwin released “Superbloom” in 2020, followed by “Blood on the Drums” in 2024.

Luke Hemmings released his debut solo album, “When Facing the Things We Turn Away From,” in 2021 and the “Boy” EP in 2024.

Michael Clifford released “Sidequest” in 2025, and Calum Hood released “Order Chaos Order” in the same year.

Awards and recognition

Over the past decade, 5 Seconds of Summer continued to receive major industry recognition, particularly in Australia and international pop categories.

  • 2018 ARIA Music Awards: Best Group ("Youngblood"), Song of the Year ("Youngblood"), Best Australian Live Act ("Meet You There" Tour)
  • 2018 Teen Choice Awards: Choice Music Group, Choice Summer Group, Choice Song: Group ("Youngblood")
  • 2019 APRA Awards: Outstanding International Achievement Award
  • 2019 BMI Awards: Best Performing Song ("Youngblood")
  • 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards: Best Duo/Group of the Year
  • 2020 ARIA Music Awards: Song of the Year ("Teeth")

Family life and personal milestones

The past decade also brought major personal developments for the members.

Luke married Sierra Deaton, announcing their engagement in 2021. In 2024, he confirmed they were officially married. The couple welcomed their first child in 2025.

 

 

Meanwhile, Michael married Crystal Leigh in a private ceremony in January 2021. The couple has since welcomed two daughters.
