The first look at the new "Resident Evil" film is here, and it's already a visual feast.

In the teaser trailer released on Thursday night, a medical courier named Bryan takes us back to Raccoon City for a delivery. Played by Austin Abrams, Bryan finds himself trapped in a nightmarish zombie outbreak.

However, it's clearly a fresh take on the long-running zombie franchise. Zach Cregger, who made waves with his hit 2025 horror film "Weapons," is not directly adapting any specific game. Rather, he's introducing an all-new story within the "Resident Evil" universe.

The teaser also captures Cregger's signature horror style, leaning more on eerie atmospheres and tense moments, rather than jump scares and action sequences.

"Resident Evil" is set to hit Philippine cinemas in September.

The film also stars Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, and Paul Walter Hauser, with the script co-written by Cregger and Shay Hatten. —JCB, GMA News
