24 fishermen race motorboats in fiesta event in Dagupan

A total of 24 fishermen showcased speed and skill as they competed in a motorboat race held in Bonuan Binloc, Dagupan City, as part of the barangay’s annual fiesta celebration.

According to the report of GMA Regional TV's Sendee Salvacio on “24 Oras” on Friday, the event was aimed at bringing joy to the community while also providing support to participants.

“Para po sa mga kasiyahan ng ating mga miyembrong sumisigay po. Hindi lang po para sa kasiyahan lang din para sa akin, lahat po natutulungan sila dahil sa kaunting palarong ganito,” said organizer Ernesto Dela Cruz.

Participants competed in different categories based on engine strength, including 15, 18, and 19-horsepower divisions.

Meanwhile, Bonuan Binloc barangay chairman Wilmer Castañares expressed hope that the event would continue to grow and attract more visitors in the future.

“Hopefully po sana mapalaki pa po natin itong paligsahan na ito para sa ganoon, makapagbigay din ng enjoyment sa ating mga bakasyunista,” he said.

Among the participants was fisherman Lorito Ebrio, who said he enjoyed the experience despite not winning this year.

“Masaya kahit di nanalo masaya kasi nasubukan namin makipagkarerahan. Almost one month din ako naghanda pero hindi kaya,” Ebrio shared.

Winners of the race received boat engines and cash prizes.
