'Eraserheads: Combo On The Run' is coming to Netflix with reworked cut, new footage
“Eraserheads: Combo On The Run” is coming to Netflix this month!
The Filipino docufilm will stream in more than 190 countries and will feature a newly reworked version of the film, including never-before-seen footage and added material.
In a press statement, Director-producer Maria Diane Ventura described the milestone as both meaningful and humbling, saying “To see it travel beyond our borders in this way is very special. What’s been most meaningful is hearing how people connect to it on a personal level, the sense of healing, and the pride in being Filipino. To now bring that to a global audience feels like an extension of that, an opportunity to share who we are, our music, our stories, and our spirit, with the rest of the world."
According to Ventura, the updated cut took into consideration viewers unfamiliar with the Eraserheads, offering more context about the cultural landscape that shaped the band’s astronomical rise.
“We want to make sure the emotional throughline remains strong while shaping it in a way that feels more expansive and accessible. Ultimately, I hope it becomes a story not just about a band but about connection, about finding ways back to each other, and about the possibility of healing, especially in a time when the world feels increasingly divided,” she said.
“Eraserheads: Combo On The Run” will begin streaming on May 30.
It first premiered in cinemas in 2025 on a limited run and was repeatedly extended several times due to demand.
It was also screened at the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2025, making it the first Filipino-produced film and the first music documentary to screen at the prestigious event.
The documentary feature bagged the Best International Feature Documentary trophy at the 12th Ierapetra International Documentary and Film Festival in Crete, Greece.
Eraserheads is the iconic band from the '90s who ushered in Pinoy alternative rock into the mainstream, with massive hits like "Pare Ko," "Huling El Bimbo," and "Superproxy." It is composed of Ely Buendia, Raimund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala, and Marcus Adoro. — Carby Basina/LA, GMA News
