Netflix PH to roll out 'with ads' subscription starting 2027
Netflix is set to roll out a new affordable subscription tier beginning in 2027. But there’s a catch: it comes with ads.
The video streaming giant announced that the ad-supported plan will expand to 15 new countries, giving members more affordable plan options and advertisers more opportunities to reach Netflix’s audience.
Here are the 15 countries receiving the “with ads” membership plan:
- Philippines
- Austria
- Belgium
- Colombia
- Denmark
- Indonesia
- Ireland
- The Netherlands
- New Zealand
- Norway
- Peru
- Poland
- Sweden
- Switzerland
- Thailand
“We’re thrilled to be expanding Netflix with ads to 15 new countries around the world in 2027, including in the Philippines,” Amy Reinhard, Netflix’s president of advertising, said in a press release.
“For members, it means more ways to enjoy Netflix at a price that works for them and for advertisers, this means the opportunity to connect to even more passionate, engaged Netflix fans around the world,” she added.
As of writing, the exact pricing and plans that will be available in the Philippines have yet to be revealed.
Currently, there are four membership plans available in the country: Mobile (P169/month), Basic (P279/month), Standard (P449/month), and Premium (P619/month). —Hermes Joy Tunac/JCB, GMA News
