#RP612fic returns as Filipinos remix history for Independence Day 2026
The annual #RP612fic tradition once again took over social media on June 12, as Filipinos filled the internet with fictional “historical” posts that remix Philippine Independence Day through humor, pop culture, and satire.
First introduced in 2009 by speculative fiction writer Paolo Chikiamco, the RP612fic tradition has since become a staple of the annual commemoration, with users consistently pushing the boundaries of historical reimagination and online comedy.
From heroes placed in modern-day scenarios to iconic film and TV moments reframed as “lost footage,” the trend once again resurfaced this year.
Below are some of the standout entries from the 2026 edition.
1. An 'Encantadia' battle sequence reinterpreted as a dramatized historical reconstruction.
2. A parody revolutionary group depicted as an old-style black-and-white historical photo using modern internet personalities.

3. A 'Pinas Sarap' post turns a boat ride into a dramatized chapter styled after Noli Me Tangere.
4. Reframed as a dramatic Noli-inspired 'lost scene,' paired with a Vice Ganda film clip
